ok so
After posting in some rabbit places and spending lots of time cuddling Holly I have decided that I am going to keep trying. On the advice of internet-people I got some rolled oats today and he seems to be happily eating those now, and he's also been reasonably active today, throwing things round, being affectionate and generally enjoying himself. Tomorrow I'm going to take him to the vet and tell them what's up and ask if they can do a culture or try a different antibiotic or something, and see if I can get something similar to Oxbow Critical Care (the only place in NZ that seems to stock it if I do an internet search is in Auckland). I'll probably also pick up some alfalfa hay since I need to go in for another bag of litter anyway. At the moment my main priorities are making sure he eats and secondly that his eyes are alright.

Yeah there aren't many rabbit-savvy vets around here. I'm lucky that the one that's two blocks from my house is fairly decent with them but it would be nice to know I could get a second opinion. I believe we're going with the theory that it's either an infection or e.cuni but... at this point since he's still getting around okay (I've seen lots of articles explaining what to do if they can't stand up by themselves and he's still able to run in straight lines even) I'm mostly concerned with keeping him alive and happy about it even if the tilt itself doesn't properly clear up.

I'll dig around in my library and talk to my vet-in-training aquaintance about him. Though if it was e.cuni wouldn't it have cleared up with the antibiotics he's been given?
