Dear tv
Stop fucking messing with dissociative identity disorder. KTHX.

Extra fake-lols for stereotypical system model with protector, slutty chick, perfect competent one, terrified core personality. I thought they were going to bring out an innocent child but luckily not.

Omg. "Say something!" "He can't. Alters are one dimensional."

It's an interesting, if annoyingly bastardized psychological phenomenon. You can see why they use it, if not why they make it so flat and boring. The controversy surrounding it is interesting, too. Many psychologists actually don't think Dissociative Identity Disorder exists, or that it only exists as an adverse effect of certain kinds of psychotherapy. Especially since these diagnoses seem to be confined almost entirely to the United States. Many think it's actually dissociative amnesia, a number of dissociative fugues, or borderline personality disorder.

Yeah, I have mad knowledge about it. Regional psychiatric disorders are nothing new though. See: koro, for example. Anorexia is also largely a Western phenomenon, though it's spreading more now with more widespread access to tv and the internet.

Do I even want to know what show that was? So I can throw eggs at the production company.
