Books I would like to procure in 2008
This is largely for my own reference, I'm sticking it in my memories so I can add to it and (hopefully) cross things off over the year.

I would include Sarah Rees Brennan - The Demon's Lexicon but it looks like it's not coming out until next year. :(

Sheila Burnford - The Incredible Journey
Paul Gallico - Jennie (out of print D:)
Paul Gallico - The Silent Miaow
Paul Gallico - Thomasina
Frank B. Gilbreth Jr. and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey - Cheaper by the Dozen
Garry Kilworth - Hunter's Moon: A Story of Foxes
John Marsden - The Tomorrow series
Tamora Pierce - complete the Circle of Magic quartet, + The Circle Opens

Yes, yes she is. And that trilogy sold for some insanely huge amount of money. Must have that book.

I haven't really read her journal in ages, but I remember more or less worshipping her in my head a couple years ago. Wow. That's really, really great for her. :D

I just go look at it every so often to see if she's updated any of her fic. But even her normal journal entries are sort of fantastically amazing.

Yeah, it's really no wonder she got published eventually. She's one hell of a writer. I kind of imagine her sitting for hours over one of her entries, though. XD I'm not sure how else they can be the way they are.

Oh, Gallico. When I was a child he was one of my most favourite writers. But unfortunately, only three of his books are translated into Russian: Jennie, Thomasina and The Small Miracle.

Jennie is SO much love. From poking at Amazon a few times I have reasonably high hopes that I should be able to get it at an okayish price whenever I happen to have the money - second hand, obviously. They do have one currently listed as "brand new" which is US$96.14 or something like that, plus shipping. For a 240 page paperback! But they also had a used in "good" condition for $18, which is a lot more affordable.

The Silent Miaow is apparently a manual for stray cats looking for a family to adopt. :P And it has like 200 black and white photos in it. Maybe I should add Thomasina to my list, actually...

Check out ABE.com there is a copy of Jennie (couple, in fact) in english at $9.70 The shipping prices are all within the UK, but you just write them via the system and they hold the book and contact you back. I go there before checking Amazon and the others.

It's actually a good place to try to find any book, new or used. If a new book comes I, I wait about a week and check. So many times, I have found stuff a lot cheaper that way.

I'm probably getting those off my sister, since she's moving to Wellington this year and books are expensive to move. :D Mwahahaha stories.
