What am I listening to?

http://keieeeye.multiply.com/music/item/13/No_Scrubs

Only four six songs because that's how many Multiply lets me upload at a time and I'm lazy, but they're all from Scrubs.

1) Old 97s - Question
This is the song that's playing in the scene where Turk proposes to Carla for the last time in the park and she accepts. Apparently they had the song chosen all along and actually built the scene around it. It's absolutely lovely, anyway.

2) The Blanks - Eight Days A Week
Ted's band! It's just a short clip from the wedding reception and starts with Ted's line, "Hi, we haven't used instruments for a long time, so bear with us if we're a little rusty." According to some of the audio commentaries, Ted's band was controversial on set - some people thought it was funny, some didn't. Whatever, I like them.

3) The Blanks - Somewhere Over the Rainbow
From the episode My Day Off, which of course has about a million Wizard of Oz references, from the Janitor painting lines in the corridors to the Janitor's "Oil! Oil!", Jordan being referred to as the Wicked Witch of the East Wing, Cox telling Carla to ignore the man behind the curtain... etc. It's a great episode and this song finishes it off.

4) Colin Hay - Waiting For My Real Life to Begin
This isn't the version of the song that's actually on the show. There, it's sung by one of the guest starts who's on the waiting list for a heart transplant but dies before she can get one. Colin Hay songs turn up a lot, and of course the first episode of the second season actually opens with a musical section in which Colin Hay himself appears and follows JD around the hospital singing.

5) Francis Dunnery - Good Life
I can't actually say for sure, but I think this is from season two, My Own Private Practice Guy. I do know that the scene it plays in is when Cox is looking at old photos etc from when he and Jordan were first married. In particular I remember her walking down a set of stairs in her wedding dress looking very pretty. I also love love love this song about as much as Question.

6) Dominican
One of my favourite dance numbers from a musical. :D The tango from My Musical that had to be filmed about six weeks after the rest, because Judy Reyes had hurt her hip and couldn't walk when they filmed MM. That's why she's sitting down for almost the entire episode.

It should probably be disturbing that I can give information about basically every song in my Scrubs playlist off the top of my head. I don't care. *snuggles Scrubs*

big bundles of wtf

- Michelle Trachtenburg is stalking me. (Unfortunately not in RL.)

- I have found my incest crack OTP. OT3, I should say.

- *flails* I apparently cannot watch The Frighteners because adult control settings have been enabled on my PS2 and I don't know the four digit code to override them. It's an M rating. I watch R18 movies on this thing all the time. WHAT THE FUCK. I'd be tempted to get out my actual DVD player and set it up to watch on there, but Early Edition's on in an hour anyway.

- I now have a playlist in my iTunes full of songs from Scrubs. Either general songs that have played during the show, songs from My Musical, or songs covered by The Blanks (Ted's band). It's glorious.

- Cast Again continues to make me lol madly.

Okay, that's brilliant

Season six Scrubs has an audio commentary on every episode. In 6.04, one of the guys says that they once got a letter from a med student/intern/whatever who said that her chief resident asked them a question that he'd looked up the answer to and thought no one would know. Only the question had been on Scrubs, so she blurted out the answer that JD had given and completely flummoxed him because he had no idea how she'd known it.

I have plans to do a top ten episodes of Scrubs (through the end of season six, as I haven't seen anything later). I imagine this will involve watching every single episode again and taking notes. Booyah.

I love commentaries

I'm working through Season One Scrubs watching all the commentaries and learning interesting things.

Like, when they were looking for a deserted teaching hospital to shoot in, they had a choice of about 20 because of the medical system in America being fucked. And Judy (Carla) is the only one whose look hasn't changed two or three times since the start of the show. And the Janitor was originally going to be a figment of JD's imagination when they were scared the show would get canceled after one season, so he never spoke to anyone else until halfway through season two when Flynn went into Bill Lawrence's office and said "Hey this is great fun and all but do you think I could talk to some other actors?"

Apparently there are some scenes Bill doesn't recognise from the script because everyone's just making up their lines, too. I think my favourite bit so far has been in 1.04, My Old Lady, when during the scene where the old lady is comforting JD Bill suddenly says "You can't see Zach now because it's audio, but he was just moved to tears by his own performance." made me rofl a little. :P
